GUARDIAN HOME PROGRAM

 We strive to provide only the best for our adult breeding dogs, who serve as loving family members. To give our breeding dogs the very best life possible, limiting how many dogs we keep at home is essential.  To ensure we can give these dogs the best possible home life while being able to expand and produce the best possible puppies. By expanding our breeding program and adding quality bloodlines, we want to ensure we are doing it right, keeping our dogs out of the kennel environment and having them in loving Guardian home.  So that's why we are offering a guardian program where qualified families will receive a FREE puppy while we retain the breeding rights.

Guardian families are expected to properly care for their new puppy/dog physically and financially. We will cover all costs associated with breeding and care for/own all litters produced by guardian family dogs. You will get an adorable dog to add to your family at no cost, and we can use him/her in our breeding program. Pretty simple! Guardian dogs will remain your forever family pet but will come to us every so often to whelp their litter. 

In order to be part of our guardian home program, you must live within 90 minutes of Palmetto Bay, FL (zip code 33157). You also must be flexible to drop off and pick up the dog for health testing, vet visits, breeding, and whelping puppies. 

 As a guardian home, you will get the 1st choice of quality breeding puppy or dog to become a member of their home. The value of the dog could range from $4,000-10,000. This dog will be genetically tested and come from tested lines. You get this dog/ puppy for FREE! 

 Each Guardian dog contract is unique, but it usually consists of whelping between 1-2 liters depending on the female and how she reacts during and after whelping. 

Little Golden Farm will retain breeding rights to the dog until the contract is over. 

Qualifications:

*Guardian families must be able to*

-Provide a puppy/dog with proper health care, nutrition, and exercise

-Properly train and socialize a puppy/dog (house, leash, crate training, and basic obedience)

-Keep up with grooming; recommend taking dogs to the groomers every 6-8 weeks, so they are matted-free. 

- No plans of relocating within the next four years. 

-Feed our recommended diet 

​-Guardian families must take their puppy/dog to the vet for annual vaccines and whenever else needed (aside from breeding-related visits).

- Guardian families must: KEEP in touch with me during the development of their dogs.  I need regular updates and pictures of your Guardian Dog. We also require your Guardian to visit at least twice during the first year for me to evaluate them. 

- Understand that we are waiving the purchase price of the dog in exchange for a service- you must be willing to communicate, cooperate and coordinate with us during their time in our program, and be dedicated to providing a safe, loving home for the lifetime of the dog 

Owning a female guardian dog: 

Once your dog is of age, has passed all of her health testings, and is ready to breed (typically on the second heat cycle), we will have your dog over for a few days during the breeding process and, later, for the duration of whelping her litter. After your dog has been bred, she will return to her guardian family, who will care for her during her pregnancy. She will return to us a week before she is due to whelp her litter. Once old enough, female dogs will spend 6-8 weeks in our care to whelp, raise, and wean their puppies (guardian families are always welcome to visit). Guardians must be able to detect a heat cycle and keep females away from intact male dogs during this time. Females retire at around 3-4 (typically after having 1-2 litters); after retirement, the female will be spayed and continue to live the remainder of her life with her guardian family.
